MY DREAM-COME-TRUE 26TH BIRTHDAY
For the longest time, since I was a kid, I'd dreamt of throwing a party for all the people that I love and care about and just spend time together over some food and drink. A thanksgiving party for all the blessings in my life really. So every year, around my birthday time, I'd draw up my guest list, plan the party menu, think of locations and all that... But always, I never did it because in the end, I would think, "No, I can't. This is too self-indulgent..." and "No, I shouldn't trouble my mum and dad..." or "No, I must be more prudent and save up..."
This year, after much consideration, I finally decided that this event had to happen NOW, if ever. Recent events in my life and the world have taught me that life is short and precious. People are precious and irreplaceable. I can't afford to take them for granted because I don't know when they may be taken away from me just like that.
So finally, last Saturday night, after 26 years of wishing, my dream came true. Over 50 of my dearest friends came for my birthday gathering held at The Ascott, Kuala Lumpur. Thank you to all of you for making it so special!
My dear friend Oon Yeoh has already written a fantastic blog post about it already. Thanks Oon!
By the way, if anyone has photos from the party, please do email them to me in the original high-res. I didn't take very many photos of it myself, darn!
